Mr. Satterwhite’s expertise includes working with clients on deal structuring, negotiations, underwriting and finance, as well as issues related to corporate management of real estate companies. He has worked with and advised institutional owners, foreign investors, public and private REITS, and high net-worth investors on a wide range of situations including property acquisitions and dispositions, valuations, loan restructurings, public mergers, capital raising, joint venture formation, development, and asset repositioning. He also has public company experience with mergers and acquisitions, and compensation, investor relations, SEC compliance and corporate governance activities.
Over the course of his career he has led over $10 billion of investment activity including properties, portfolios, existing joint-ventures, fund-level partnerships and public and private operating companies. He has also financed or restructured over $5 billion of debt, has been involved in several public company mergers, has managed a portfolio of non-traditional real estate investments, and has helped build two substantial real estate operating platforms.
Prior to joining Arcturus, Mr. Satterwhite was a founding partner and Chief Investment Officer of Callahan Capital Partners, a private real estate investment firm. Under his leadership the firm raised over $300 million of private equity and acquired over $800 million in assets. Before co-founding Callahan, Mr. Satterwhite was the Head of North America for Macquarie Office Trust, a large, publically traded REIT based in Australia, where he helped increase the U.S. asset base by over $2 billion and lead the creation of its U.S. asset management infrastructure.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Satterwhite served as Senior Vice President of Investments for Equity Office Properties (EOP) and was a member of their Management Committee. During his tenure Mr. Satterwhite helped build and lead a team responsible for setting and implementing the firm’s investment strategy, and originate, structure and close over $4 billion of real estate transactions throughout the U.S. As a member of EOP’s Management Committee he was directly involved in strategic planning, operations and other activities unique to publicly-traded companies. Prior to EOP, Mr. Satterwhite worked for Citicorp’s Corporate Finance Group.
Mr. Satterwhite is a member of the Urban Land Institute and the Pension Real Estate Association. He also serves on the board of the Leland Public School and is a Trustee of the Leelanau Conservancy. Mr. Satterwhite is a graduate of Colorado College (BA) and the University of Michigan (MBA).
